Brass Waxjack late 18th century.. 5″ high, 3″  circular pierced diameter base, 4″ diameter including handle.   Taper is wrapped around thin shaft..scrolled handle..iron spring between clamp arms.  Very similar to one belonging to the New York Historical Society.  There is also one similar on George Washington’s desk at Mount Vernon.    $395
